Here’s some answers to some common questions. We hope we’ve covered what you need!

Do you take pencil bookings?

Unfortunately we are unable to hold a booking without payment. Your Desert Oak booking will be confirmed once payment is processed.

What happens if I want to cancel my booking?

Should you for any reason be unable to use your booking or change your mind, there is a cooling off period of 72 hours from the time of placing your booking. If you advise within us within that time, a your booking will be refunded less a $150 admin fee.

Should you advise us beyond 72 hours of placing your booking, every effort will be made to sell your booking on. Please provide as much notice as possible, as the closer you get to your start date the less likely it is to be rehired. If a hire is able to be facilitated, the proceeds will be forwarded to you less a 20% admin fee.

Is a credit/debit card required to make a booking?

Our online booking system uses Stripe to process your payment. Stripe is a payment gateway that is linked to your credit/debit card. We also have the option of Bank transfer if you prefer.

How do I pay for the booking?

You can pay for your booking online through our secure website, or by bank transfer.

What information will I need to book a camper van?

The Hire Agreement requires your drivers licence details, AGM of vehicle, personal details and basic trip plan. If you have any questions, feel free to call us.

Do you have an age bracket for hirers?

25-75 years of age for the driver of the vehicle.

What do I need to bring with me when I hire a camper trailer from Desert Oak?

A tow bar capable of towing 2 tonne and with a standard tongue fitting. We provide the DO35 fitting and can provide the hitch if you need a drop down, or a riser.

Standard inclusion in the vans are; mattress and protector, fridge, bucket, storage tubs (Tvan), spare parts kit, wheel brace, awning fittings, en suite tent, fire extinguisher, 2x 4.5kg gas bottles and a dustpan and brush. Why do hire rates differ?

The Desert Oak fleet varies in model and specifications. Each camper trailer’s features are designed to suit different hirers. Tvan for example is our ‘family van’ with space for children within the camper. Our Vista is primarily geared towards couples but is also suitable for those with very small children who may bed share or use a portacot.

What are the peak periods?

School holiday periods (as per Victorian calendar). Minimum 2 week hire during this period.

Do you offer one-way hires?

On a hire by hire basis, this may be possible. Fees apply. Send an email with your requested location and we will get back to you.

Does Desert Oak offer out of hours hire pick ups and drop offs?

Yes we are happy to offer flexible pick ups and drop offs subject to availability, prior arrangement and agreement.

Does Desert Oak accept cash payments as bonds on hires?

No. Desert Oak does not accept cash payments as bonds on our camper trailers. If you are unable to either bank transfer or supply a valid credit card or bank issued Visa or MasterCard debit card, you will not be able to hire from Desert Oak.
